Temperature Equilibration due to Charge State Fluctuations in Dense Plasmas

چکیده
The charge states of ions in dense plasmas fluctuate due to collisional ionization and recombination. Here, we show how, by modifying the ion interaction potential, these fluctuations can mediate energy exchange between plasma electrons ions. Moreover, develop a theory for this novel electron-ion transfer mechanism. Calculations using random walk approach suggest that rate from state could be comparable direct collisions. This mechanism is, however, predicted exhibit complex dependence on temperature plasma, which contribute our understanding significant variation experimental measurements equilibration times.

Polarisation in the Temperature Equilibration of Anisotropic Plasmas
The polarisation effect on the isotropisation of a magnetized bi-Maxwellian plasma is investigated in the weak coupling approximation. Based on the Rostoker collision operator, which reduces in the magnetic field free limit to the Balescu-Lenard operator, the equipartition frequency v is evaluated numerically for 0 and analytically for B-*oo, respectively. This frequency, depending nonlinearly ...
متن کاملKinetic approach to temperature relaxation in dense plasmas
The relaxation of nonideal two-temperature plasmas is investigated with a kinetic approach. First the energy transfer between the electrons and ions is described using different approximations: the energy transfer through classical collisions (Landau-Spitzer approach) is reviewed; quantum diffraction and strong collisions are included by applying the quantum Boltzmann equation; the influence of...
متن کاملRelaxation of Dense, Reacting Two-Temperature-Plasmas
The driver energy in many dense plasma experiments is almost exclusively coupled into one species and, thus, a two-temperature plasma is created after a short relaxation. Beam particles or field ionization can also create a nonequilibrium charge state distribution. Although ionization kinetics and temperature equilibration usually occur on separated time scales (for solid density ≈ 100 fs and ≈...
متن کاملCorrelation effects on the temperature-relaxation rates in dense plasmas.
We present a model for the rate of temperature relaxation between electrons and ions in plasmas. The model includes self-consistently the effects of particle screening, electron degeneracy, and correlations between electrons and ions. We successfully validate the model over a wide range of plasma coupling against molecular-dynamics simulations of classical plasmas of like-charged electrons and ...
متن کاملThermoelastic Vibration of Temperature-Dependent Nanobeams Due to Rectified Sine Wave Heating—A State Space Approach
In this study, the second type of Green and Naghdi's thermoelasticity theory is applied to present the vibration of a nanobeam subjected to rectified sine wave heating based upon the nonlocal thermoelasticity theory. Both Young's modulus and thermal conductivity are considered to be linear functions of the temperature. The Laplace transform domain is adopted to solve the governing partial diffe...
